Critically acclaimed and award-winning tribute artist Peter Mac is known for his crowd-pleasing interpretations of Elaine Stitch, Mae West, and even Karen Walker (!)… but it’s his intensely spot-on yet loving musical tributes to eternal legend Judy Garland that has made his mark on the New York City cabaret scene and beyond. Peter and his husband, producer and performer DJ Mac, get in bed with Lavender After Dark’s Jed Ryan for “In Bed With Jed” to talk about Peter’s first ever virtual show, Judy Garland: Live in Concert, which wowed audiences in their own living rooms on Wednesday, June 10th. In this episode, we talk about Judy (and a little bit of Liza too!), the challenges of being a performer in a pandemic, the real reason The Golden Palace didn’t take off, and even a little Mae West!
If you missed the June 10th show, there are still reasons to “Get Happy”! On Monday, June 22, Peter Mac presents a brand new Judy Garland LIVE: In Concert. This show’s theme is “Judy Takes Broadway”. As the creators of the show have stated, “That’s right! Since you can’t go to Broadway as they are in intermission, Judy will bring Broadway to you!” Judy sings her signature tunes (all sung live by Mr. Mac) but also some of the most wonderful Broadway show songs ever written. Judy interweaves the music with amazing stories that she tells to you her lucky audience members.
The performance is Monday June 22, 2020 at 7:30PM EST. All tix are $20 and can be purchased on EventBrite. All ticket inquiries should be made by email to DJ@FriendOfJudy.com.
