His full name is (Get ready…) Mario Max Prince Antonius Adolf Albert Isidor Eduard Oliver Gertraud Manuela Edith Helga Magdalena Prinz zu Schaumburg-Lippe. (Whew!) He commonly abbreviates his full name to the equally regal but more user-friendly Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe, and has become affectionately known in the world of pop culture and entertainment as simply “Prince Mario-Max”. As we approach the middle of 2018, the charismatic Austrian-born Prince has become one of the world’s most well-known royals. He has appeared on both the big and small screens all around the world, as well as behind the scenes in all creative capacities– from editing to stunts– through the years. In 2010, Prince Mario-Max created the wildly popular German television show Astro Royal News, a weekly interactive entertainment news program covering royals, celebrities and the entertainment industry. He serves as the show’s Producer, Director, and Host.  American audiences have seen the Prince on Millionaire Matchmaker in 2011. In 2015 he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC. In 2016, he appeared on VH1’s Reality TV show, K. Michelle: My Life. That same year, he received the Golden Halo Award by the Southern California Motion Picture Council.  The 40-year old royal is also a writer.  As a journalist, he works for Burda Studios, of Hubert Burda Media since 2016.  In short, the tall and handsome multi-hypehenate is a widely sought-after expert for anything and everything related to royalty on TV.

Needless to say, royalty is a hot topic as of late.   With the upcoming wedding of Prince Harry to American Meghan Markle on May 19th, 2018, people all over the world just can’t get enough royal news.  As Prince Mario-Max told journalist Paul Sladkus during the event, “One of the first foreign Princesses was an American. It was in 1802: It was actually Napoleon’s brother who married an American lady and made her a Princess. I have to say that through this long tradition that America has with royalty, that they have provided the most FAMOUS Princesses of all times! Princess Grace of Monaco, Princess Rita Hayworth who married the Aga Khan… It’s an enormous, interesting topic for my colleagues and for me to cover. I love to spread the word and to put more and more attention to this topic…. We are in fact talking about 11 royal families who run countries all over Europe. So, the content of this topic is endless. The audience loves this content, and the great thing is that it will never die out, because they are celebrities from birth to death. It’s not like a hit movie that’s over and then you’re done, or winning an award and then you’re done.”

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe, who lives in New York and Los Angeles, however, goes beyond being dishing about celebrities and being one himself.  He is also involved in many philanthropic endeavors. Following the decades-long tradition of his parents, his entire family is involved with international hunger relief organizations and children’s charities. This includes coordinating the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid to children and families in countries all over the world.  He also promotes animal-related philanthropic projects.

On Thursday, March 1st, the New York Chapter of NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Inc.) presented the Special Event “How Royal News Became the New Booming Movement in Entertainment.” in New York City.  Hosted by Prince Mario-Max, the evening included a press conference and a Q&A with the guests, with some of the the topics being: ‘Why Royal Topics Headline Television”, “What Makes a Royal Story ‘Hot’”, and “Breaking News with Royal Topics”. The evening climaxed with a caviar reception with Le Caviar Royale, the organic caviar that supports the education of the children of American veterans. Caviar for charity? Who could resist? Also present were Prince Mario-Max’s parents, His Highness Prince Waldemar Stephen of Schaumburg-Lippe (himself an award-winning German Prince, author, and TV personality) and Her Highness Princess Antonia Schaumburg-Lippe (herself an award winning TV-personality, author, lawyer, and doctor of veterinary medicine.) of Jewish descent.

Why caviar? Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe tells me: “”We created a product that everyone loves, and that has a lot of emotion: Le Caviar Royale. The price of this caviar is a quarter of the regular market price. It’s wholesale price. We are nonprofit. I always saw caviar in America as being unaffordable: so expensive!  So, people do it maybe once a year on a special occasion. But it’s so healthy! It’s like a natural fish oil capsule, and it has all those vitamins. But you couldn’t do that on a daily or weekly basis. The price is outrageous. Then, I found out about this lady who has this caviar which is organic, and fresh. We’re gonna have a tasting today!  And, it’s going to be helping people. It’s a magical product. I love it!” I ask if the Prince is personally involved in the selection of the caviar for that “aura of royalty”. He answers, “I’ve known caviar all my life, and caviar was a ‘royal food’. All the caviar sturgeons were formerly owned by the Emperor of Russia– so you’d have to imagine that it was almost unreachable for people. I wanted to make this amazing superfood, with its nutritional benefits, accessible for everyone. For me, there were three important things: First, it has to be organic. Second, no animal or fish can be harmed. It is actually harvested from wild river fish. They do not die when they give us the caviar. And third, it’s also vegetarian, because the little fish eggs have never been fertilized. It’s something very, very natural. When I speak to young athletes– the millennials– they say, ‘Well, we already have our fancy fish oil capsules.’ I say, ‘Well, you should try the caviar, because it is already a capsule. It’s just a natural one that doesn’t need gel or starch around it. It’s already wrapped– and it’s fantastic how it can benefit people.’ So, on the one hand side, when you eat the caviar, it’s good for you… and on the other hand side, when you get Le Caviar Royale, it’s helping the children of veterans. That’s of course something I care about, because I think they should just get every bit of help possible, as they do so much for this country… Caviar brings people together. Caviar is a communicator, caviar is a great topic, and caviar has always been something very special. No one eats caviar with a big spoon or shovels it down! It’s always this magical FIREWORK in your mouth that you celebrate! And when you celebrate something, it makes people happy. Caviar is truly a product that makes you smile!  It’s a ‘royal superfood’ that has become very common. I want to share it with everyone and make sure that everyone can afford it and have it: No more ‘exclusivity’ where you’re kept out. Everyone should have the same access to everything. That’s my big belief. I think that’s very important!”
